During this course “Writing,” I have
stumble across challenging essays. In
the begging of class my essays were not explainable and was not strong enough to
meet college essay material. Reading my
essays shows how much I improved. The first essay that I wrote was very weak,
it did not had enough details. I wrote three short paragraphs and thought that
it was a passing essay. During this course I learned my mistakes and weakness
on writing essays. My major weakness was not giving enough detail for example,
not writing personal and outside experience. Reading and understanding the passages
were not an issue it more writing my thoughts on paper. Trying to elaborate on
how I agreed or disagreed with the passage.

In different
scenarios people tend to act different when they are by themselves or in a
group. In this passage “Individualism in Groups” by Carol Tavris there are
several behaviors someone would act in a group or by themselves in a situation.
Someone alone in a dangerous situation would think differently from someone in
a group. For example, one individual is there to witness someone’s life in
danger they would most likely help the person. However, in a group they would
heisted to report it because the person would assumed that someone already helped,
that is called “Diffusion of Responsibility.”
I don't agree with this idea because it depends on the situation a group or an individual is in. For example, it is late at night outside of a bar theirs a homeless man lying on the floor. Someone by themselves walking would witness it and most likely do nothing. The person would assume it is just a drunken poor homeless man in the street and would walk by. This evidence that I showed proves that the author is wrong about a single person being by themselves would help or report someone being in trouble.

In my personal
experience I have been in a car accident with my sister, cousin, and my mother
who was driving. Soon as the car crash into a parked car people who witness it
offer to help us. No one heisted to call the ambulance and some even offer for
their help. In conclusion the author’s analogy I do not agreed with it because,
my experience proves the author being wrong about “Diffusion of Responsibility.”
Again it depends on the situation people are in. In conclusion people just have
different mind frame than others.

In this
passage “How Your Birth Order Influences Your Life Adjustment,” by Lucille
Forer there are several reason why a child feels a certain way being in his or
her family. The child would know his or position in the family for example
being, only child, oldest, middle, or the youngest in his family. The oldest
child would feel that he or she have more responsibilities than the younger
siblings. The middle child may assumed of being better than other people
because the middle child is older than the younger and has its older sibling
and parents for help. The youngest child would have a lower self-esteem because
he or she feels that they can’t accomplish than his siblings. Finally the only
child would assume of being independent for himself.
Being the
oldest in my family I agreed with this idea. As being the oldest I feel that I have
a lot of responsibility of being the role model for my younger brothers. In my
experience I have to face my parents as being the leader of my brothers. My parents
expect me to do the right thing so my brothers would look up to me. I also need
to take care of my brother’s problem and set a good example of being the
oldest.
I have
two younger brothers named Jose and Albert. Jose is 18 teen years old and he is
the middle. I do feel that he thinks he is the best because he always mocks
Albert. Jose likes to argue a lot of being the best and most of the time fights
with Albert. He usually ask me for help and if I can’t help him he would ask my
parents.
My
youngest brother Albert is 16 teen he most of the time wines a lot of not doing
his homework right. I do feel that he needs a lot of attention because he feels
very self-esteem moist of the time. My parents tend to spoiled him and order me
to help him for his problems. I feel Albert is lucky to be the youngest because
he has a lot of people to watch out for him. Sometime when I have a lot of
problems or being stress out I sometimes wish of being the youngest.
I do
appreciate of having brothers I feel bad for an only child because when their
parents are gone they are by themselves in this world.

Someone would believe that a good and
noble person would save a person’s life if they were in danger. What makes a
person a hero or what is a hero? I believe a hero is a person that had saved
someone’s life before. I think a person is a hero after they had saved someone’s
life not if they a firefighter or a police officer that haven’t gain experience
from any moment of saving a life. I think today the word “Hero” is being misused
and understood. For example, today children look up to Justin Bieber and
consider him as a hero or a role model instead of looking up to a soldier that
has put his life on the line for his country.
People would suspect for a hero to
be a good citizen that goes to church every Sunday, that helps for the good,
and don’t ask for anything in exchanged. However, they are wrong anyone can
become a hero there are no background checks before becoming one. Anyone in
this world could become a hero even a dog or a fugitive that had just escape
from prison and has a bad criminal record. People would assume if they were caught
in a burning building that a firefighter would come to rescue them. However, they
don’t know that the firefighter would save his life before saving theirs because
that how a firefighter are trained. They are not trained to be a hero, they are
trained to be professionals at what they do and that is a firefighter.
I do considered that there are good
and bad heroes. For example, a good hero would fall in the category of being
noble that would rescue someone’s life and does not ask for anything in
exchanged. For example, Jack Bauer from the Television series “24.”Jack Bauer
has saved dozens of lives and in return has gotten him torture to death or even
sent to federal prison. This man has never ask or gotten a Medal of Honor or a
reward for his heroic acts. In the end of saving people’s lives or even the
whole country Jack Bauer had to disappear and hide from the world that he had
helped saved.
However, a bad hero would ask for
something in return or maybe demand it. For example, Bernie Laplante from the
film “Hero.” In this movie Bernie is looked as a con artist, a credit card
fraud, and a thief. In the movie Bernie had saved all passengers from a plane
crash the main person he saved was a reporter Gale Gayley which in the process
of saving her Bernie stole her purse. In confusion, someone becomes a hero
after saving someone’s life it doesn’t matter is the person has done good karma
in the world or terrorizes it.

There is research on music that it helps
someone’s heath. In this passage “Is Music a Good Tool for Health,” by
Elizabeth Scott there are several ways that music can help people with their health
issues. First of all, music can help cancer patients and children with
attention problems. For instance, music can help with brainwaves, concentration,
and alert thinking. Second, research has demonstrated that music helps
breathing and heart rate, someone would feel relax by listen to music. Also music
can help lowers depression anxiety.
I
agreed with this idea that “Music is good for the health.” In an outside experience
that everyone faces is going in an elevator. I notice that some elevator have
smooth relaxing music. This helps someone by relaxing them and by being patient
to get to their destination floor. For example, in a crowded elevator some
people feel Closter phobic. They panic and don’t have the patient to wait with
the people in the elevator with them. As researchers demonstrated music helps with
concentration that why most elevator have music in them to relax people in them.
From my
personal experience music has help me prevent my sleeping anxiety. Late at
night I sometimes have problems sleeping. Sometimes I would put on my head
phones and play soft music whenever I can’t sleep. For example, my neighborhood
late at nights I can hear very loud noise from the streets. This has distracted
me from going to sleep at nights and prevented me from sleeping. I would put on
my favorites songs to relax my mind and finally I can fall asleep.
Today everyone
have the benefits from music. Music has help people to relax, motivation, and
enjoying it by dancing. Around the world music has many different cultures.
Music is a useful tool that everyone should enjoy and benefit from.

It is Saturday night and I’m in the night club with my cousin. We are drinking, having fun, and having the finest women around us. Every weekend we would go to the best night clubs in New York City, week days we would both go workout in the gym. It would be the same routine week after week Jose would bring home the prettiest girl from the club. My cousin had good choice of words to say to a woman and most of the time he would bring her home.
On a Friday night I would call Jose to ask if we going out clubbing. It was the usual respond “Hell Yeah” however it was different. I thought to myself that he might be sick, I asked him but he didn’t explain that he has plans with someone else. Everything has change I would call his house and his mother would answer saying to me he is not here. It been about three weeks that I don’t hear from Jose and not going to the clubs as usual Saturday nights.
I was on my way to work one day and I received a text from Jose. We met up in my house and my mother left us alone to talk.It seem odd to me that my mother left us alone, so I knew it was something serious. I was happy to see him, asking where have you been. He had a worried face and he took a deep breath. He explain to me that we are family, and confessed to me his deep secret, that he is a homosexual. Before was hard for me to accept truth because I would never imagine that about my cousin being gay.
Crying in tears my cousin begged for my forgiveness. As time passed I learn how to accept the truth about my cousin. Our family and friends accept the truth but they act different around him and I need to choice my words carefully on how I talk around him so I wont offend him. My family is shocked to know the truth about Jose not just my self. We don't hangout or barely see each other. My guess is that he has change not only his interest in girls.
